Rolls & Blanchard Picked as Alternate for NCAA Frozen Four Skills Challenge
A senior defenseman on the no. 1-ranked Plattsburgh State men's hockey team, 2008 USCHO.com All-America Second Team honoree Nick Rolls has been named as an alternate for the 2009 NCAA Frozen Four Skills Challenge Men's East Squad being held on Friday, April 10, at the Verizon Center in Washington, D.C. In the event that position player is unable to compete in the competition, Rolls may be called up to fill his spot.
The event showcases senior hockey players from all divisions within the NCAA and coincides with the NCAA Division I Frozen Four Tournament. The competitions will include puck control relay, fastest skater, hardest shot, rapid fire shooting, accuracy shooting and penalty shot. Each competitor will receive a complete set of equipment and a full uniform from Bauer Hockey. The players were selected by representatives from the American Hockey Coaches Association, the NCAA Division I Men's Ice Hockey Committee and NCAA national office staff.
Rolls, a three-time First Team All-State University of New York Athletic Conference selection, has scored five goals and recorded 21 assists so far this season. For his career, Rolls has played in 110 games for the Cardinals and racked up 33 goals and 71 assists along the way.
