SUNYAC COACHES PRESEASON POLL
The defending NCAA Division III champion Oswego Lakers have been ranked first in the SUNYAC's preseason ice hockey poll. At the vote's conclusion, Oswego had 64 points, including eight first place votes.
Oswego was the 2006-07 SUNYAC regular season champion, finishing with an 11-1-2 conference record. After falling to eventual champ Fredonia in the conference semifinals, the Lakers rebounded with three straight wins, including back-to-back overtime victories in the Division III semifinals and finals, to become their school's first team to win a national title. Oswego will also enter the season ranked No. 1 by USCHO.
Plattsburgh is ranked second in the SUNYAC preseason poll with 55 points and one first-place vote. After finishing third in 06-07, the Cards advanced to the SUNYAC finals and lost to Fredonia. Geneseo, which was second during the regular season, finished third in the poll. Fredonia and Buffalo State have been ranked 4th and 5th, respectively.
